Look at what you call an addict.
Look at what you think an addict is.
Look at how you think they should be treated.
Now look upon your shadow box.
How you “need” it.
How you don’t “need” it, it just makes life easier
Until you need it.
Look at how it’s hurting your health
Look at how you know its melting your brain but you do it anyways.
Look at yourself try to function without it.
Look how you trust it more than anything else, more than yourself without it.
Imagine how it would look if it weren’t so widely accepted and expected.
No ancestor could have prepared us for this level of fixation and dependency, but we may rely on them to remind us that until recently living without it was all we’d ever done.
Something, something, a monitored population ruled by chemical dependency, something, fascism, something, something.
